valentines dinner

We’re only a few short weeks away from Valentine’s Day. Whether you have someone special to spend the day with or simply enjoy the selection of chocolate delicacies available on this day, it’s important to remember that it’s 2019 and there are so many different ways to celebrate the holiday that represents love other than a romantic date with your partner.

We’re offering some tips on making the day a fun and cute one, regardless of how you’re celebrating it.

Romantic Night Out

First the mushy stuff. We all know that Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year and that couples spend the day professing their love to one another. Many will get engaged and married on this day too. If you plan to celebrate with your special Valentine this year – since it falls on a Thursday – consider staying in rather than dining out and make it special by cooking a meal together in the kitchen. Then sit and actually enjoy it together. Since we’re always on the go today this is a nice way to dedicate quality time to one another in a more personalized setting.

If you’re not used to navigating the kitchen, be sure to practice safe cooking by watching any food on the flame so it doesn’t burn, remembering to turn off the oven and using care with knives and other tools.

Family / Friend Day

Just because this is traditionally a “couples” holiday, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate with friends or family to show your appreciation of their companionship. Plan a special date with your child, your “BFF,” or your parents. If most places are booked up for dinner reservations, shake things up and consider a late lunch or breakfast date instead to celebrate the day! You’ll find many establishments offering holiday specials, like heart-shaped pizzas or pancakes. After grabbing a bite, choose an activity you both enjoy for some extra quality time.

Whatever fun you have planned, stay protected throughout the day with appropriate insurance coverages.

“Me” Time

For some of us, setting aside time for ourselves is a gift worth celebrating too. With busy, hectic schedules today it’s easy to lose time for important things like self-care. This year, show yourself how much you love and appreciate your daily efforts and take some time to spoil yourself. Take yourself out for an amazing dinner, buy yourself a gift you’ve been eyeing for a while or take a trip to a salon and treat yourself to something special. You deserve it!
