With only a few short weeks left in the month and the biggest candy holiday of the year coming shortly – we thought it would be a great time to review some of the important steps you should be taking to get and stay healthy this year!
So much focus has been placed on sanitation and keeping yourself free of germs – and that’s absolutely important, but now that we’re staying in more, cooking at home and getting out of old routines, it’s also critical that we maintain good physical and mental health too.
This month, there were a number of “themes” to bring awareness to these important topics.
In October we celebrate:
Eat Better, Eat Together Month
Dropping a few post quarantine pounds before the holidays is something many of us may be thinking about. It’s important to begin with good eating habits. That means more wholesome fruits, vegetables and grains and less junk food. Consider cooking meals together as a family and even trying new recipes you find online.
Emotional Wellness Month
In addition to packing on some pounds while social distancing there has been increased feelings of isolation and emotional unwelless during these uncertain times. During the month of October we remember that emotional well-being can help with stress and even your physical well-being. Try incorporating new mindful practices in your day that help you to unwind, breathe, relax and refocus.
Financial Planning Month
With the holiday season only a few short months away, many of us are also starting to think about our wallets. It’s important, especially in an uncertain economy, to be mindful of your spending and to stick to a budget that works for you. Be sure you’re always planning ahead and saving some aside for those rainy days.
Healthy Lungs Month
Each October, we are also reminded about the importance of protecting our lungs. If you want to feel great and breath good you must protect yourself against harmful air pollution, smoke, mold and other particles floating in the air. Be sure to use the right mask to keep yourself safe and know what’s happening in your environment.
National Dental Hygiene Month
Finally, this month is also National Dental Hygiene Month and a great reminder that you must brush and floss if you want your pearly whites to be squeaky clean. Book your dental cleaning appointments for the year and get a new toothbrush to celebrate!
We hope you’ve taken the time to think about these important health factors we should all practice each day. Be sure to read through these tips and share them with family and friends. Stay healthy!
